Engagement Preferences
  1. Facilitating the transitions of others brings me great satisfaction.  Having been through a number of my own significant transitions, I can help others engage in theirs more easily and elegantly.

  2. I hate having my time wasted.  I will not work with people who say they want to do the work, but hold onto their small "story" that offers evidence why things can't or will not change.

I don't mind hesitation when the water seems a little chilly, but it's hard to demonstrate the backstroke to someone sitting in a beach chair complaining how they never get the chance to swim.

  3. As a change agent for the past 30 years, I know that creative chaos precedes any great change. I am not daunted by the prospect of passing through chaos into the unknown and helping others to do the same.  It is comforting, however, to have good company when things seem to be falling apart, people who get the point of it all.

  4. I was fortunate in learning about organizational systems and group process and design with a pioneer in the field.  I see the world in terms of inter-relationships.  I do not work with an individual as an isolated unit, but am always aware of the impact of an individual's change upon their entire social system.

     5.  I stayed with companies only as long as I was learning and/or enjoying the experience.  When I
turned 40, I chose to put myself only in those situations where I learned and enjoyed myself.  This is
          still true.

     6.  Enjoyment comes in many forms and does not preclude working through difficult situations.  The
satisfaction of getting to the other side of a difficult passage can be great and offers welcome texture
          to the same-old, same-old.

I believe that we save the world by first saving ourselves. Only then do we have something to give
          back.

     7.  Finally, I believe that life is meant to be experienced fully, even if parts of the journey are
uncomfortable. I am also an optimist who has found happy endings in life, even when those endings
fly in the face of conventional wisdom of what happiness is.  Every experience is an opportunity for
          growth and wisdom.
